Where to have Afternoon Tea – London – The Langham Hotel

Location:

Afternoon Tea at The Langham Hotel – London

Afternoon tea is a tradition that dates back to the 1850s when the Duchess of Bedford was feeling peckish. Now many hotels offer this aristocratic repast but the original one was The Langham Hotel so we went to have some tea there.

There are different types of tea though. Afternoon tea, high tea, low tea etc.

The Langham was the first hotel to have hydraulic lifts, running water and was therefore popular with the literati. Even today you still see famous famous in there, especially as it is right opposite the BBC broadcasting house.

Don’t forget to book in advance if you want tea because they do get very popular and you can even request books and games for the kids as well as fun cakes and sandwiches for children.
