In this most spiffing walk around Bermondsey Joolz goes to the Old Operating Theatre Museum and Herb Garret. A garret is a liveable space in an attic and this one was discovered above this church having been sealed up in the 19th century. You can attend a demonstration of how the operating theatre worked and see all the wonderful medical devices.
Nearby is Guy’s Hospital with an alcove one belonging to the medieval London Bridge, containing a statue of John Keats.
The we go up to Bermondsey Street with all its cafes and the surrounding area with its old leather factories and tanneries.
If you are feeling hungry you can also go up the Maltby Street Market (read Nancy’s excellent blog post about it here)
